Scientific MOOCs follower. Author of Airpocalypse, a techno-medical thriller (Out Summer 2017)

Welcome to the digital era of biology (and to this modest blog I started in early 2005).

To cure many diseases, like cancer or cystic fibrosis, we will need to target genes (mutations, for ex.), not organs! I am convinced that the future of replacement medicine (organ transplant) is genomics (the science of the human genome). In 10 years we will be replacing (modifying) genes; not organs!

Anticipating the $100 genome era and the P4™ medicine revolution. P4 Medicine (Predictive, Personalized, Preventive, & Participatory): Catalyzing a Revolution from Reactive to Proactive Medicine.

I am an early adopter of scientific MOOCs. I've earned myself four MIT digital diplomas: 7.00x, 7.28x1, 7.28.x2 and 7QBWx. Instructor of 7.00x: Eric Lander PhD.

Upcoming books: Airpocalypse, a medical thriller (action taking place in Beijing) 2017; Jesus CRISPR Superstar, a sci-fi -- French title: La Passion du CRISPR (2018).

I love Genomics. Would you rather donate your data, or... your vital organs? Imagine all the people sharing their data...

System D "Donation"

Organ trafficking in Kosovo, 5 MDs arrested (read) ... The living need the dead like never before! (the next "Tim Burton" comedy? Hem). Bodysnatchers (had already a loooong history before the rise of organ transplant)... It has never been safe to be dead ... Grave organ shortage has led to some kind of freaky music with "the Organ Grinder"... and to a grave misunderstanding (is "brain death" true death? Debate over brain death continues). Of course it has never been safe to be dying...

"The Bodysnatchers Of New York tells the extraordinary story of Michael Mastromarino, a New York based bio-medical entrepreneur, who illegally dissected human tissue, bone and tendons in order to sell them at immense profit to companies specialising in supplying ‘donations’ for use in operations. Described as a 'one of a kind crime' and 'the most horrible crime of the last one hundred years' by one hysterical news outlet, the story tore through America and filled thousands of column inches to fulfil the morbid interest of the public who rapidly became gripped by a tale which could’ve been written by Edgar Allan Poe." (source).

This ain't no sustainable world we live in, but such thing as sustainable death does exist. Yay. Yikes.

3D bioprinting (printable organs and tissues)? Bioengineering? Regenerative medicine? Hubots and cloning? ...If that's just another "Organ Grinder" showcase, then mistreated artificial humans (clones) will also have (and worship) their Jesus Christ...

dying...
